Meron Kinfat, aged 17, joined us through Access Aspiration, an employability and education programme run by the Mayor's Fund for London. We asked Meron to share her reflections on her time with CapGen, and her advice for other prospective interns on how to approach the experience.
Meron reflected that she found “everyone friendly and welcoming” and particularly noticed there was “a good variety of ages” among the staff.
After just a week at CapGen, Meron had already gained a much deeper understanding of our client base and picked up a wealth of knowledge about investing. She reflected that internships or work experience “will always be a good option,” especially since “it’s so common to be asked about it in interviews and applications.”
Despite being at an early stage in her career, Meron found the experience incredibly valuable: “It was still so helpful and beneficial in so many ways,” she shared. Her insight is an important reminder that it’s never too early to start exploring the professional world.
As her internship came to a close, Meron offered one final piece of advice: “Try and stay in touch with the people you meet. You never know how handy the network could be in years to come.” The connections you build early on can become valuable assets throughout your career.
